Uqba ibn Nafi

Biography

Uqba ibn Nafi was born around 622 and became an important commander in the early Islamic expansion westward.
He led repeated campaigns in North Africa and founded Kairouan, which became a major military and religious center.
He was killed in 683 during a campaign in the Maghreb, but his operations strongly shaped later conquests in the region.
