Musa ibn Nusayr was born in the 7th century and rose through Umayyad military administration.
As governor of Ifriqiya, he stabilized North African territories and backed commanders who crossed into Hispania in the early 8th century.
He spent his final years away from field command and died in the early 8th century, remembered as a key organizer of western expansion.
