Biography

Ptolemy I Soter was one of Alexander the Great's most trusted generals and bodyguards. After Alexander's death, he secured Egypt as his province.
He defended Egypt against rivals like Perdiccas and Antigonus, establishing a stable and wealthy kingdom.
He made Alexandria a center of Greek culture and learning, establishing the Great Library of Alexandria.
