Of Khitan descent, Li Guangbi rose through the ranks to become one of the Tang's most reliable military leaders.
He was known for his strict discipline and exceptional defensive tactics, most notably during the defense of Taiyuan where he defeated a much larger rebel army.
His strategic coordination with other Tang generals was vital in reclaiming lost territories and exhausting the rebel resources.
Historical records often pair him with Guo Ziyi, referring to them as the twin pillars that saved the Tang Empire.
