Saad ibn Abi Waqqas was born around 595 and is remembered as one of the earliest companions of the Prophet Muhammad.
He commanded Rashidun forces at the Battle of Qadisiyah and helped open the way to Ctesiphon during the conquest of Iraq and Persia.
He died in 674 after a long life, remembered as a central military figure of the early caliphate.
