Theodemir's exact birth year is unknown, but he became a leading ruler among the Ostrogoths in the 5th century.
After the fall of Hunnic dominance, he helped secure territory and political autonomy for Ostrogothic groups in the Danube region.
He died in 474, and leadership passed to his son Theodoric, who later founded an Ostrogothic kingdom in Italy.
