Biography

Marcus Porcius Cato, known as Cato the Younger, was famous for his strict morality and Stoic discipline. He emerged as a prominent voice for republican tradition and senatorial authority.
During Caesar's Civil War he aligned with the Optimates, opposing Caesar's rise. After the defeat at Thapsus in 46 BC, he withdrew to Utica and chose suicide, becoming a symbol of republican resistance.
