Shi Hu

3rd Emperor of Later Zhao

Biography

Born as the nephew of Later Zhao's founder Shi Le, Shi Hu was a brilliant military general who contributed significantly to the unification of Northern China. However, after Shi Le's death, he seized power through a violent coup, executing his cousins to become the ruler.
During his reign, he established Yecheng as a grand capital with magnificent palaces. Legend says he mobilized nearly a million people for these construction projects, and his hunting parties were so massive that they resembled active military campaigns. Despite his strength, his extreme cruelty led to countless internal uprisings.
His death in 349 AD triggered a chaotic succession crisis among his sons, ultimately leading to the total collapse of Later Zhao and the infamous rise of Ran Min.
