Edward of Woodstock, known to history as the Black Prince, was the eldest son of King Edward III of England. He was a brilliant military tactician.
He played a key role in the English victory at the Battle of Crรฉcy (1346) while still a teenager and later captured King John II of France at the Battle of Poitiers (1356).
He died before his father and never became king, but he remains a legendary figure of chivalry and English military prowess.
